Yoga for Teens at a Recovery High School

the Karma Project

Horizon High School is a non-profit, Recovery High School in Madison, WI serving a unique student population with significant challenges, including histories of trauma, substance abuse, and self-regulation difficulties. This Karma Project embeds a structured yoga program within a high school focused on recovery and trauma. This unique offering will help students learn to self-regulate and manage stress, anxiety, and mental wellness while they remain sober and in school.

Jill received her 200-hour certification through Breathe for Change where she continues to pursue a Masters Degree. When asked about her personal “Why” Jill shared, “To serve others, so they see their value and worth and that allows them to embark on their healing journey.”

About Horizon High School: 100% of Horizon High School students have a co-occurring mental health diagnosis and are considered at-risk. All students are recovering from substance use disorders and came to Horizon High School after 30 days of sobriety and/or with an agreement to be sober and work with a counselor.
